Across school, we celebrated Charles Darwin Day with a variety of learning activities.
In Robin Class, they learned about natural selection and adaption. They found out about the peppered moth and how it adapts to its changing environment. They designed their own moth and found its perfect environment in the classroom.
Dragonfly Class created a map of the journey from Great Britain to the Galapagos Islands, creating mountains and rivers to cross. They also compared animals that could be found there with British animals.
Children in Bumblebee Class sorted animals, made their own Galapagos Islands, and built boats like the HMS Beagle.
Skylark and Mayfly Classes created their own Darwin logbooks. They then went to the nature area and looked closely at the plants and animals living there. They drew and labelled their findings in their logbooks.
